The Spanish Civil War was a conflict that was experienced with special harshness, especially in Bilbao and its surroundings. The remains of this struggle are numerous in Bizkaia and, fortunately, different institutions are doing a great job to recover this historical heritage. We believe in the importance of these works and therefore we want to show you to contribute to their conservation. We have prepared two incredible visits, with some secrets that most people in Bilbao do not know, will you join us?
We propose you a unique and unrepeatable route where we will review the most important points of the Civil War in Biscay. The idea is to go to Gernika by the old route, which was used by the authorities the day after the bombing. Enjoy this charming road between valleys and hills on our way, without discomfort or noise, a pleasure for all the senses.
On the way we will discover a hidden heritage that you can’t imagine: a firing point in a Baserri (typical Basque farmer house), trenches and tunnels and even a mysterious funeral stele of an aviator of the condor legion.
The visit concludes in Gernika, where we will visit its famous tree and discover the heritage that survived the bombing. A visit full of history, without losing the contact with nature, what we like so much, do you sign up?
